LOCAL MSP Jeane Freeman congratulated the winner of her official Christmas card design competition last week with the winning entry coming from Gardenrose Primary School in Maybole.
The MSP for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley invited local primary schools to design her official Christmas card last month – an opportunity many children took to show off their crafts.
An excellent drawing of a winter scene from a p7 pupil at Gardenrose Primary won the competition. In second place was Straiton Primary School with a design featuring Santa and his reindeer. A selection of the designs which were close contenders will be displayed in Ms Freeman’s Constituency Office in Cumnock throughout December.
After visiting both Gardenrose and Straiton primaries, Jeane Freeman said: “I was so impressed by the many excellent drawings and designs we received. We have some very talented young people in this constituency and it was very hard indeed to choose the winners.
“I think I have a lovely Christmas card this year and in the coming years as we involve more local schools I’m looking forward to sending out more lovely cards across Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley.
