Police are hunting five men after three others were assaulted on a night out in the early hours of Friday morning.

The attack happened on Holland Street at around 3.20am.

Cops said one of the men, who is 20, suffered a "serious facial injury".

He was admitted to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and later released.

Two other men, aged 21 and 22, managed to get away, and the suspects then fled via Bath Street.

Police said one of the suspects has red hair and a red beard.

They have no other information about the men, and are urging members of the public to come forward.

It is understood a group of people were standing on the corner of Sauchiehall Street and Holland Street singing when the attack happened, but dispersed before police arrived.

Officers are appealing for these people to contact them as they could provide additional information on the incident or the suspects.

Detective Constable Alistair Donaldson said: “This area would have been busy around the time of the incident with revellers leaving pubs and clubs in an effort to get taxis and make their way home.

"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the crime to contact us.  Three young men have been assaulted on a night out and we need to establish exactly what has happened and why.”

Anyone with information is asked to call officers at City Centre Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 1218 of Friday 14 December 2018.  Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
