A TRAVEL clinic in Ayr has been commended for its exceptional work at the Scottish Pharmacy awards.

Jane Rorison of Ogg & Co. pharmacy scooped the award for Advances in Travel health and Vaccine Services in community pharmacy as she continues to develop and drive the local business.

The pharmacy situated at Newmarket Street in Ayr City centre were celebrating the award in the Glasgow’s Hilton hotel as they saw off competition from across the country to claim the sought-after award.

Pharmacy Manager Jane Rorison has been developing the Travel Vaccination Clinic since 2014 and the judges of the award explained that they were “very impressed” with the range of services that are currently available and being offered in Oggs & Co. The judges also revealed that they were impressed with the pharmacies ‘strong innovative ideas’, commending Jane and her team for their hard work.

Jane explained: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have won this award. I’m very passionate about travel and introduced the service to Oggs as I didn’t know of any other local pharmacy offering it.

“I’ve had to undertake a lot of training and private study over the past few years to gain the qualifications and experienced required, but it’s all been worth it.

“I’m so pleased to be able to offer this service within the community, while helping to reduce the workloads of Practice Nurses at GP surgeries.

“However, I have to point out that it’s not just down to me - the clinic would not be the success it is without the support of the staff team, we all work hard together to make everything run smoothly, so this award is for them too!”

Jane has been with Ogg & Co since 2013, when the business was purchased by David and Fiona Stribling of Lime Tree Healthcare.

Congratulating Jane on her achievement, David Stribling said the extent to which Jane has developed the Travel Clinic has been incredible: “Jane has worked extremely hard to introduce and develop the Travel Clinic, and her commitment to patients is simply outstanding. Starting with just one type of vaccination, she now offers a ‘one-stop shop’ for worldwide travel, where patients send her their holiday itinerary and she researches their requirements for every stage of their trip, without them having to worry about it.

We are absolutely delighted for Jane that all her efforts have been recognised in winning this award.”
