NINE people have been reported to Ayrshire police in the last week for drink driving offences.

With the festive period fast approaching, people are reminded of the low alcohol policies that are in place when it comes to driving a vehicle and consuming alcohol.

Serious penalties can be implicated to those who are convicted of drink related driving offences such as minimum of one-year disqualification from driving and if caught a second time with ten years then three years is the minimum period.

Police Scotland and Road Safety Scotland launched their festive #dontriskit campaign to advise people that the best approach is none when it comes to alcohol and driving.

The zero limit campaign highlights: “Even if you’re just over the limit, in the eyes of the law you’re a drunk-driver and a criminal – there is no grey area. Don’t drink and drive.”
