ALL CCTV cameras have been confirmed to be in good working order in Dalrymple Street in Girvan.
The concerns came as some of the systems put in place are nearly 25 years old and other areas in South Ayrshire, where high security is required, were found to have cameras not in operation.
The cameras on Dalrymple Street are in place to only look one way which was in ideal position at the time they were installed. But councillor Peter Henderson believes things have changed now and the cameras could be considered as part of a district-wide project to develop CCTV. He said: "Things change as time moves on and the location might no longer be ideal but they are working.
"They are mainly for police purposes so it's important they're still in use."
South Ayrshire plans to have mobile CCTV operational as part of the project to develop security.
