WORK to complete the installation of the roof structure on the Ayr station hotel building is still ongoing as partners make efforts to secure safety of the area.
The works involve an extended period of overnight working, due to the need for trackside access outside of train services’ operating hours.
The overnight working will continue until the conclusion of the works, which is expected to be around Friday, December 21 – subject to suitable weather conditions.
South Ayrshire Council has warned that there may be overnight disturbance caused by noise from the use of a crane. However, efforts will be made to minimise disruption.
A council spokesperson said: “Having to work overnight is far from ideal but it is necessary to address the public safety concerns at this dangerous building – in line with our statutory responsibilities – while working with our rail transport partners to maintain the current rail service.”
