GIRVAN more than doubled its visitors this year as tourists from all over the world stopped by the Carrick town.

The Girvan Visitors Centre opens between March and September and a total of 2276 visitors were counted coming through the doors. Last year’s total was only 1200.

Travellers from all over the world were included in this year’s footfall, where every continent except Antarctica visited Girvan. Tourists came from far away lands including Australia, Kenya and the United States.

July was the busiest month for the visitor centre where 539 people were recorded visiting Girvan.
