Scotland TranServ is proposing full overnight closures of the A78 southbound and northbound carriageways between the Monktonhead and Dutch House Roundabouts north of Ayr to carry out carriageway patching.

This would mean closures for three days between November 17 and 19 while the works are carried out to repair damage caused by freeze-thaw.

Gordon Coppard, Scotland TranServ’s Network Area Engineer said:

“Scotland TranServ has been working closely with local authorities, emergency services and key local stakeholders in the planning of these works. The trunk road was affected by the repeated freeze-thaw cycles of last winter, and is in need of repair ahead of the oncoming winter.

“The safety of our workers is of paramount importance, and that is why it is necessary to implement a closure of the trunk road. Working overnight will allow us to minimise the impact on commuters and local businesses, while maximising the efficiency of the programme of works.”

Overnight closure times will be 8pm to 6am on the three nights between Saturday and Tuesday
