A woman was assaulted with weapons at her home on Friday, November 9 it is claimed, as police search for two suspects in Ayr.

Two men allegedly, armed with weapons, broke into the 45-year-old victim's house on James Campbell Road before ransacking a room with intent to rob.

The thugs ran off empty handed. Meanwhile, the woman was left uninjured but has been very shaken by the incident.

Police described the suspects as: "1: White, aged between 18 and 22 years, approximately 5 ft 10 in height and of slim build. He was wearing a light blue hooded top which was covering his face. 2: White, around 5 ft 8 in height and of medium build. He was wearing a navy jumper, dark jogging bottoms and had a hood covering his face."

Ayr CID are appealing for information on the attack which took place around 2.45pm on Friday afternoon. Detective Constable Paul McRoberts of Ayr CID is leading the investigation. He said: “Officers are currently checking CCTV and speaking to neighbours in case anyone saw the two men who ran off towards James Campbell Court afterwards.

“This happened mid-afternoon and there would have been people about, so if you saw any one acting suspiciously or have any information that will assist our enquiry, then please contact Ayr CID via 101. Quote reference number 2291 of the 9th November when calling.
