The National Trust for Scotland’s Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway has retained its rating as a five star visitor attraction from VisitScotland.

The assessor decided the museum exceeded standards with fantastic staff, excellent food and a great play area. It was also noted that the Burns Cottage smallholding was a fantastic development, really enhancing the experience of visitors to the birthplace of Scotland’s national bard.

Caroline Smith, Operations Manager at the museum said: “We are really pleased to receive this recognition from VisitScotland. Our whole team works so hard to provide visitors with the best possible experience and retaining our five star rating is recognition of their dedication.”

The museum is also investing further in its family facilities and is currently taking part in a pilot with ‘Mighty Missions’ along with Edinburgh Zoo.

‘Mighty Missions’ is a series of exciting augmented reality quests based at attractions which are designed to enhance the visitor experience, provide additional learning possibilities and bring an attraction’s story to life.

The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, Alloway which comprises the Auld Kirk and Brig o’ Doon, the cottage where Burns was born, the Burns Monument and the award-winning museum with its unrivalled Burns’ collection. The museum was generously supported by the Scottish Government and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
