PRESTWICK South Community Council welcomed their new community police contact at their monthly meeting.

PC Michael McClymont will be the first contact for the community and is hoping that new policing arrangements will make a positive difference in working together with the Community Council and other organisations within the town.

With the new policing arrangements coming into action in the middle of September, members of the public have been expressing their delight at the police presence on the streets both on foot and on bicycle as opposed to patrolling in cars.

Officer McLymont indicated there were few issues to report in terms of minor crimes but attention was being paid to school children at lunchtime relating to litter. Councillor Ian Cochrane gave a reminder of the volunteer Litter Pick.

Councillor Hugh Hunter also attended the meeting and was pleased to report that 81 people were coming to the “Carer’s Day” at Prestwick Academy and that another Community Cinema afternoon would take place on November 28.

He added that the Christmas “Lighting Up” would be on Sunday November 18.
