THERE is an alteration to the line up for the BBC SSO concert in Ayr Town Hall on Friday November 2.
Victoria Simmonds, mezzo-soprano, will sing in place of Christine Rice who is indisposed.
Victoria Simmonds studied at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is a former company principal at English National Opera and for Opera North she created the title role in Jonathan Dove’s opera The Adventures of Pinocchio.
Abroad she has appeared with the Netherlands Opera, Stuttgart and Halle Opera companies and she sang the role of Wellgunde in Wagner’s Das Rheingold with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra/Sir Simon Rattle.
Her recent and future performances include Through His Teeth by Luke Bedford for the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Anna in the World Premiere of Roxanna Panufnik’s Silver Birch, Minsk Woman in Jonathan Dove’s Flight, the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland for Opera Holland Park, Minsk.
