AYR has been collecting for Animal Week to raise money for animal welfare charity, the Scottish SPCA.

John Murasev led door to door collections through Ayr houses, together with a street collection last month encouraging people to donate to protect animals.

The total raised was an impressive £310.66 from Ayr homes and on the street collection.

John said: “The total this year is almost double than last year, which is thanks to having a few more collectors this time.

“The money raised goes to helping the animals and ones that have been abused, neglected or unwanted. It helps them and the SPCA ger Vet treatments and rehome the animals.

“We are always looking for extra help for the charity so we’re always looking for volunteers for future collections. Anyone interested can get in touch with the rehoming centre in Ayr or contact myself to get involved with raising the money."

John has previously taken part in sponsored events for SPCA. He completed a climb of Ben Nevis last year which raised £2439. He also participates in fundraising for Pets At Home.
