AN Ayr street was cordoned off on Friday as police tried to talk a man down off a roof during a three hour stand-off.

Police were called to the scene at around 10.50am where a 55-year-old man was said to be refusing to come down from the roof at the guests houses on Queen’s Terrace.

The area was cordoned off and police had to break down the door where the man was staying.

Negotiators also attended in attempts to persuade him to retreat away from the roof, where he remained for over three hours.

At around 1.55pm, the man finally came away from the building and was taken to Ayr Hospital for assessment.
