AT their September meeting Prestwick South Community Council welcomed new Community Police contact, PC Michael McClymont, who will be reporting regularly to ther meetings.

He said that he was hoping that the new policing arrangements would make a positive difference in working together with the community council and other organisations within the town.

Since the new policing arrangements came into force in the middle of September, members of the public have been welcoming their presence on the streets, on foot (or bicycle), and not in a car.

“Lighting Up” would be on Sunday November 18.

Cllr Margaret Toner spoke about the continuing problem of Travelling People and the expenses involved in clearing up after they leave.

She reported that repair of pavements in Adamton Terrace and Lilybank Road were in the 2018/19 programme; work needed to repair the slipway in front of the Sailing Club; Prestwick has been short listed in connection with the Great Britain High Street Awards; and commented on the update from Scottish Water as regards sewer flooding issues.

The next meeting will be held in Kingcase Church Hall at 7pm on Thursday October 25.
