Shoppers at Aldi in Ayr got a tasty treat when local farmers tempted them with Scotch Lamb PGI.

The event, on Saturday, September 1, marked the start of #LoveLambWeek and the ‘Scotch Lamb, Naturally’ campaigns.

More than 150 delicious Indian Spiced kebabs, cooked up by Lindsay Guidi of the Home Cook School, were served by NFU Scotland Ayrshire region members.

NFU Scotland Regional Manager Christine Cuthbertson said: “With peak season for tasty Scotch lamb approaching, it’s great for our sheep farmers to see consumers enjoying the finest, natural and tasty meat.

“Our sheep farmers in Ayrshire work so hard all year round to produce the finest lamb. They are rightly very proud of their part in the chain that takes quality Scotch lamb from farm gate to dinner plate.

“They are also hugely appreciative that ALDI commits to stocking 100 per cent fresh Scotch lamb in their Scottish stores.

“That makes Scotch Lamb a very accessible, nutritious and versatile meal option for Ayrshire shoppers.

“The tremendous reaction we got to our Indian kebabs means that #LoveLambWeek and the ‘Scotch Lamb, Naturally’ campaign is off to a flyer with the hope that Scotch lamb becomes a first-choice meal option for Scottish families all year round.”
