AYR Rotary Club. We were honoured to be one of the first clubs in District 1230 to welcome the new District Governor to their club.
Jim Ross of Dunoon Rotary Club, and recently elected DG, delivered a thoughtprovoking and entertaining address to the assembled members.
Jim urged members to take up the challenge to ‘Be the Inspiration’ which is Rotary International’s theme for this year.
He said that through local, community-oriented events, members can reach out to these communities and spread awareness of the transformational activities that Rotary clubs undertake every day.
Jim suggested that the Firth of Clyde could be viewed as a physical connection that might inspire some District clubs to work together to greater overall effect. Be bold he urged, be innovative, and share ideas, talent, and resources.
Following on after Jim’s talk the club held their much-feared, annual Mastermind quiz which this year was won by Jimmy Begg, last year’s runner-up. Loudon McAndrew was a highly creditable second. John Laughland proposed the vote of thanks to Jim Ross.
