There will be additional buses for the Scottish Airshow this weekend, following the disruption at Ayr Railway Station.

Stagecoach has drafted in additional vehicles, compared to a normal weekend, to help show-goers on both Saturday 1 September and Sunday 2 September. Services will be operating between Glasgow and Ayr.

Doug Maclean, Airshow Director said: "Less than 10 per cent of those attending the Airshow come by rail.

"I am delighted that Stagecoach are providing extra capacity. We have a very extensive road traffic management plan in place and thousands of car parking spaces. We anticipate the weekend being a great success.

"To all travelling by road we ask - use the official car park, follow the signs and crucially follow the exit signs as that will get you out of the area quickly."

Stagecoach is also accepting ScotRail train tickets on its local bus services as train services to and from Ayr Station continue to be disrupted while the local authority investigates an unsafe building near the railway line.

The International Air Show is expected to be attended by around 100,000 people from across the country.
