TRAIN services between Ayr and Glasgow will be reduced due to an exclusion zone being put in place at Ayr Train Station.

ScotRail announced on social media that South Ayrshire Council that the exclusion zone will have 'an impact on services'due to the Station Hotel being deemed 'unsafe'.

A spokesperson for ScotRail, said: "Ayr to Glasgow Central services will have fewer carriages because of the restrictions to platform lengths which the council have applied. Some early morning services will also be cancelled as we can’t access our depot in Ayr.

"Travelling from either Kilwinning or Paisley Gilmour Street towards Glasgow Central? Please catch services from Platform 1 at these stations if you can.

"Services between Ayr & Girvan are suspended. To keep you moving, you can use ScotRail tickets & Smartcards on Stagecoach West services, just show your ticket to the driver when you board. Bus infomation can be found at www.TravelineScotland.com

"Services between Glasgow Central and Stranraer via Kilmarnock will terminate and start back from Kilmarnock. Buses are in place to get you from Ayr to Stranraer. Travelling to Stranraer from Kilmarnock, or vice versa? We’ll provide a taxi to/from Ayr station.

"We have Rail replacement coaches on standby at Ayr and Kilwinning which we’ll use as they’re needed. These pick up and drop off in the large car park near the Platform 4 entrance at Ayr, which will be closed for parking for the time being.

"These alterations apply until the end of service on Sunday, September 2, though services via Ayr will be disrupted for the foreseeable future. We’ll update again with plans for Monday, September 3 onward soon."
