VOLUNTEERS from Ayr Hospital presented NHS Ayrshire & Arran with a cheque for £170,000.
On July 3 at the Volunteers’ Annual General Meeting (AGM) it was heard that money the volunteers previously raised, which is more than £2m, has been used in a number of ways to benefit the patients and staff, including the purchase of specialist equipment in the Combined Assessment Unit and Emergency Department.
Dr Martin Cheyne, Chairman of Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board, said: “Not only do our volunteers donate a great deal of money to the hospital year after year; they happily give their time and energy to provide an invaluable service for patients, visitors and staff.
“We should all be inspired by their charity, kindness and dedication. I would personally like to express my genuine thanks to every one - it is a pleasure and a privilege to have them.”
