PUPILS at a Troon school showed their kindness by working hard to raise money for children in Malawi.
The Back-Pack Project, an appeal run by Mary’s Meals, was supported by the pupils from Barassie Primary School who worked as a school community to recycle items, donate and buy backpacks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, clothes, flip-flops, notepads and other stationary products to fill 50 back packs.
These backpacks are now on their way to Malawi and will be distributed to the children - for many of the children who receive a donated backpack, it will be the only gift they have ever received.
Pauline Moriarty, class teacher at Barassie Primary School, said: “The Eco Committee and children have worked as a whole school community.
"Loading the backpacks onto the lorry was an emotional experience for the pupils as they realised the positive impact they would have on these children’s way of life, now and in the future.”
