CROWDS gathered to watch the crowning of the Gala Queen and King at this year’s Barr Gala.

Marley McCrae and Harris Berry were crowned on Sunday, June 3 before they presided over the day’s events.

Upper Stinchar SWI attended the gala on a Wizard of Oz float with their theme Broadway Musicals.

The day got off to a good start with the running of the Fell Race in the morning where more runners than ever took part.

Winner of the adult race was a race regular, Craig Murphy while Chris Gunson was the first villager home. Luke Graham won the Intermediate race and Deagan Wright was first home for the Juniors.

The Gala parade through the village was led by the Maybole Pipe Band with the theme being Hollywood Musicals.

The stalls did a roaring trade throughout the afternoon while magician Fabulous Fraser kept the kids entertained.

A duck race down the Gregg Burn and a Pet Show at the Pot capped a super day’s fun for all presided over by Gala Queen and King, Marley McCrae and Harris Berry.

An organiser said: “Thank you to all the people who helped make it happen - yet another Barr event that couldn’t take place without the hard work of community volunteers.”
