SOUTH Carrick Community Leisure will be invited to take part in the Access to Leisure Card Scheme.
If the proposal is agreed those who use the facilities at Girvan’s Quay Zone will be able to enjoy the benefits of the council programme.
The Access to Leisure card entitles the holder to a discount of up to 50 percent on many services and memberships from South Ayrshire Council’s sport, leisure and golf services.
Claire Monaghan, Head of Policy, Performance and Communication at South Ayrshire Council, addressed the Leadership Panel last week.
She said: “This is about providing opportunities in Girvan. The Quay Zone is run by South Carrick Community Leisure and the card could be recognised in their system.
“If we are able to agree it, the benefits could be in place within a week to ten days.”
Depute Leader Brian McGinley said: “I think it is important for everyone in South Ayrshire to have access to the leisure card.”
Leader Douglas Campbell added: “We want fit and healthier residents in South Ayrshire.”
