A MAN and a woman fell foul of the law after arguing on a Prestwick footpath with a claw hammer and a knife.
Robert Lawrie, of Stonecrop Place, Ayr and Dawn McGarrie of Glenmuir Road, Ayr, admitted to conducting themselves in a disorderly manner on September 16, 2017 at Ayr Road in Prestwick, where they were seen to be shouting and fighting.
The court heard the pair were both carrying offensive weapons.
They appeared before Sheriff Desmond Leslie at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.
Depute Fiscal, Lindsay Bain, explained: “At around 2.30pm at a public footpath, the accused and co-accused were noticed to be shouting and swearing by members of the public, which resulted in a fight.
“This continued, and Miss McGarrie was seen to be holding a small knife and Mr Lawrie was seen swinging a purple plastic bag containing a claw hammer.
“Member of the public contacted the police – the police attended immediately but they had fled the scene, until later, when Miss McGarry contacted the police to report an assault in relation to the incident. The knife was not recovered.”
Both accused sentences were deferred for reports.
