THE development of a bus drop-off point on Dunure Road, was delayed after residents complained.
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance stopped the work on the pad, which would allow passengers with mobility issues to disembark in between the two official bus stops, following letters of objection.
The issue was discussed at the Alloway and Doonfoot community council last week.
Brendan Ferguson said: “ Former councillor Bill Grant was approached by concerned resident with mobility issues and asked for a bus stop to be located in between the existing ones.
“The Ayrshire Roads Alliance agreed to look at it and plans were approved. Two months ago, residents who live adjacent to the stop objected and work was put on hold.”
David Manson of the Ayrshire Roads Alliance said: “ I have had people call me asking why the work has been suspended and I have told them about the opposition.
“Bus stops will be a thing of the past and drivers will be able to stop as with Ayr High Street and Coylton.”
