TEENS planning to come to Troon Beach devised a cunning plan to stop booze being seized by police – by “stashing” it in resident’s gardens.

At the recent Troon Community Council, a resident from South Beach voiced her concerns of youths leaving alcohol in her shed.

Francis Sinclair explained: “It is out of order – these children with the booze – they urinate everywhere, and the police have got enough to do without having to cope with the kids running around.

“What can we do to help the police? Some of the families left because of the carry on. They’re coming up to our end and urinating in our gardens and leaving booze in our sheds.”

Community Councillor, Nicky Power, added: “From what I have heard, the kids have been coming down and bringing the alcohol the night before and putting them in people’s gardens.”

Sgt Dean Barlas, explained: “Whenever there has been good weather, I’ve been down at the sand dunes at 7 o’clock in the morning, looking for it.”

“The event [itself] that happened on the [bank holiday Monday] – the majority of the kids were well behaved -  we had between 2000 and 3000 people. There were people, clearly going into the sand dunes and using it as a toilet, which is a wider problem.

“We have had several emails from members of the public, including the kids themselves, who were very complimentary in the organisation of the day. The amount of drunkenness was much smaller than it was in the past.”

“What I would say for the locals here is that if you see anything on social media, if you have children or grandchildren who feedback to you that they know people are going to come down, then call 101.”
