CONCERNS have been raised about council officials being unable to force dog owners to pick up after their pooch.
One resident had been told that without police presence, enforcement officers could not force someone to clean up after their pets. Another had asked if special cameras could be installed on the beach.
A spokesman for South Ayrshire Council said: “Dog owners should respect South Ayrshire, keep their dogs under control at all times and clean up after their pets. When this does not happen, the council is prepared to use enforcement action.”
When someone is spotted not to be picking up dog mess, an enforcement officer can give them the opportunity to do so. If they refuse they can be fined.
The council are also looking at flexible CCTV camera.
