THE old Dianne Honeyman shop could be used as a new Tourist Information Centre it emerged this week.
At their most recent meeting members of the Alloway and Doonfoot Community Council asked if Wallace Tower could be opened on a Saturday to function as an information point.
Raymond Bramwell said: “A town like Ayr should have a tourist office. I have been stopped often by foreign tourists and asked where the tourist office is.
"I think if we spent a little money we could open Wallace Tower on a Saturday morning and use it.”
But the council told the Ayr Advertiser they have their own ideas.
Depute Leader Brian McGinley said: “We are thinking about using the old wedding shop on the corner of the High Street and the Sandgate.
"It is essential to give visitors the information they need about attractions in and around the town.”
