RODDY Woomble will headline Upside Doon this month, the festival held in the gardens of the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.

Lead by the Idlewild frontman, Roddy Woomble, Festival, will take place on June 23 from 4pm to 11pm.

It’s been more than 10 years since Roddy released his debut album, ‘My Secret Is My Silence’ and his latest work, which he will perform at the festival, has seen Roddy take a darker more lo-fi direction, held together by his trademark poetic lyrics.

Roddy said: “I love a festival that’s smaller and boutique and that’s why I prefer performing at festivals like Upside Doon. I’m a huge Burns fan as he’s an emblem of what’s good about Scotland. He’s a master of language and I’m a romantic like he was.”

After launching in 2016, Upside Doon is the National Trust for Scotland’s only regular outdoor music festival. The family-friendly festival doubled in size last year, and is on track to be a success in 2018.

Created and curated by Robert Burns Birthplace Museum’s Claire Grant, the festival is a refreshing mix of Scottish and local acts.

Joining Roddy on the bill is Glasgow’s Mercury Nominated, C Duncan.
The musician, multi-instrumentalist and graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland creates his artwork and produces his music in his home studio.

He said: “Burns’ songs are what I grew up with. They’re so beautiful and you can’t help but be inspired by something so overtly romantic.”

After wow-ing at Upside Doon last year, West Dunbartonshire six-piece Have Mercy Las Vegas are back in Alloway playing their trademark mix of folk-blues Americana.

Patersani, Anna Sweeney, and Sophie Rogers will also take to the stage. Completing the line-up is Glasgow’s Brownbear, the musical collective led by singer/songwriter Matt Hickman.

Tickets cost £18.50 for an adult, £15 for a child and £60 for a family ticket and are on sale now from https://nts.cloudvenue.co.uk/upsidedoon
