AN Ayr man has gone above and beyond for raising money for the Scottish SPCA.

John Murasev, who previously climbed Ben Nevis for the charity, recently took part in a bridge swing on April 28, raising triple his target – his sponsorship target was £100 but managed to raise £743.

Speaking to the Ayr Advertiser, he said: “All in all the height was 132 feet but you free fall 14 metres then you start to swing. When you go, without any notice you just zoom down – it will definitely be something to remember.

“The worst part is when you are down on the free fall because you feel yourself getting faster and faster. You just go and when you are down there, you can enjoy it.

“It was a lovely day for it to take place – it was just like floating in the air.”

Scottish SPCA Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre Superintendent, Sharon Comrie, said: “We are overwhelmed by the support John gives us here at the Society.

“He regularly takes part in a variety of our fundraisers, including collecting at Pets At Home collections and even climbed Ben Nevis last August.

“His latest challenge, Swing for Scotland’s Animals, was an adrenalin packed experience which saw John swing 40 metres above the River Garry.

“Without donations like these we would not be able to continue our vital work rescuing and rehoming abandoned and unwanted animals in Scotland.”
