SCOUTS from different groups in the Kyle and Carrick District took part in a worldwide Jamboree.

Some 50 Beaver Scouts and 30 Cub Scouts joined Jamboree on The Trails (JOTT) – when Scouts across the world take part in an event in their own locality, whether it be a walk or a camp.

On Saturday, May 12 the Beaver Scouts walk took them along Ayr Shore front from the Blackburn Car park to the mouth of the River Doon and then up to Belleisle Park.

There they had some time on the play area followed by a game of rounders and an ice cream before heading back to the car park by following the path down the Slaphouse Burn.

There was plenty of wild life for them to see this year with the Doon Swan preening herself on the next, a Cormorant sitting on a rock in the river, looking for it’s next meal and three wild deer roaming in the field alongside Belleisle Drive.

On Sunday May 13, another 30 Cub Scouts undertook a slightly more adventurous walk from the South Beach Car Park in Troon, following the Smugglers Trail from the car Park, along Crosbie Road, across the gold course to Southwood, Fullarton House, Loans and then over Dundonald hill via the Collennan Reservoir to Dundonald Castle where cool drinks were waiting.
