STUDENTS from Ayrshire College’s makeup artistry course showcased their work at The Carlton Hotel in Prestwick.

On Thursday, May 10, ‘The Greatest Showcase’ featured 22 visual displays by the HND students, with a further 28 HNC level makeup artists displaying their portfolios, including presentations of the Night King from Game of Thrones.

Elaine McCarthy, the group’s lecturer at Ayrshire College, said: “Every student worked so hard to produce outstanding standards and quality of work for their showcase. This event pushes students to the limit on their ability and professionalism and involves the industry and the outside community.”

HND students Debbie Jennings and Kayleigh Allan found their work to be the “ultimate finale” and the course has given them “new and exciting skills”.

Debbie said: “This is my third and final year at Ayrshire College and every year I have learned new and exciting skills.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at college and can’t quite believe that it’s now coming to an end.

“This year’s graded unit has been the most stressful yet enjoyable unit as it allows me to be very creative and use the new skills I have learned in special effects and prosthetics.”

Kayleigh added: “The event has been challenging but exciting as it is the ultimate finale. I feel it has pushed me to take ownership of my own ability and challenged my professionalism.

“I feel the time has come to take all I’ve gained and make my own stamp within the industry.”
