A WHISKY tasting event has raised more than £2,000 for Troon Lifeboat Station.

On Monday, May 11, the Troon RNLI Dram Raiser whisky tasting night at the South Beach Hotel was organised by The Jar, Troon and hosted by Graeme MacKay from Morrison & Mackay.

Demand was high for the tickets to the fundraising event.

Those who attended were welcomed with a ‘dram’ of Morrison & MacKay’s Old Perth before a tasting of six single cask whiskies from their famous “Celebration of the Cask” range.

David Grant, owner of The Jar, Troon said: “It was a great night, and everyone is delighted with how it went.

“The tasting would not have been possible without the very generous team at Morrison & Mackay who donated their time and outstanding whiskies.

“We would also very much like to thank the South Beach Hotel for the use of superb venue as well as all the local businesses and the whisky companies who were kind enough to donate prizes."

The treasurer of Troon Lifeboat Fundraising, Branch Urda Cotter, added: “We are really grateful to The Jar, Troon along with Morrison and Mackay for organising such a successful fundraising evening.

“We would also like to thank all those who attended as this donation will help the RNLI to save lives at sea.”
