THE 10-year celebration of the new Barassie Primary School took the form of a concert which involved the entire school.
Then Provost Winnie Sloan opened the school on March 25, 2009.
Ten years later, on Friday, May 4, the children showcased their learning from throughout the year to celebrate, with former pupils of the school who remembered the school being built.
Linda Clarkson, Head Teacher at Barassie Primary, said: “The children were involved in preparing for the day by designing the tickets and programme as well as rehearsing their performance items.
“Refreshments were provided for families, friends and invited guests who included former Barassie Primary pupils now at Marr College.
“There was a display of photos showing Barassie through the years and a display of current opportunities and the excellent facilities being used by our young people. We had an anniversary cake and 10th birthday balloons.
“Visitors were delighted by the performances and commented positively on the children singing in French, dancing and even composing a song.
“Mr Gilmour MacLeod, professional musician, was our pianist for the day and accompanied our final songs from Primary four including Walking on Sunshine and Let there be Song.
“I thought the children performed magnificently and the event was enjoyed by everyone in our learning community.”
