PRIMARY seven pupils at Dalrymple Primary School are running a business enterprise this week as part of their project.

They have teamed up with Cumnock Rotary Club and have been awarded £50 to start up their business and split the profits 60/40,

Their teacher Miss Cuthbert said: “ My class are running an enterprise business starting this week.

“We want to thank local businesses Woody’s Ice Cream and Portland Janitorial for helping us out.

“They are running the event as part of a p7 enterprise project. and are working with Cumnock rotary club.

“The pupils get £50 to start up their business and then split the profits 60/40 to us, with the rotary club, as they supply the p7 leavers with dictionaries before they move on to secondary school.

“We held a Dragon’s Den style event in class to choose the winning business idea, came up with a business plan, name and logo.

We have been lucky enough to have support of two local businesses - Portland Janitorial in Ayr, who supplied us with tubs, spoons, gloves and napkins and Woody’s ice cream who are providing us with ice cream.

“We will be selling it from our cart at 3pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for the next two weeks.

“The pupils have learned lots of skills through the project such as communicating with local businesses, advertising/marketing, budgeting and also having a role in trying to make our business a success.”
