A TASKFORCE of 160 volunteers helped tidy up Prestwick Beach.
This year’s 12th Annual Rotary Beach Clean on Saturday, April 7, saw 130 bags of rubbish collected with the help of the Brownies and parents, the Air Cadets and Sea Cadets and other organised groups.
Richie Cameron, President, Rotary Club of Prestwick, said: “The Brownies did a fantastic job of clearing the embankment and fencing at golf course-they head for that bit each year.
“The Air Cadets and Sea Cadets did a lot of heavy lifting along near the burn, so thanks to them and all the organised groups - an amazing turnout from the locals.
“On behalf of the Rotary Club of Prestwick I would like to thank everyone for their huge efforts and for their passion to keep Prestwick beautiful.”
This annual ‘Spring Clean’, sees the Rotary Clubs of Troon, Prestwick, Girvan, Ayr and Alloway coordinate the beach clean aspect of their Keep Scotland Beautiful campaign, with 19 miles of beaches cleaned this year.
