GIRVAN Town Team have applied for funding from Kilgallioch Community Trust to buy new lights for Girvan Harbour.

Deadline for applications was Monday, April 9. The team are hoping to achieve £500 with £250 ring fenced from the William Grant foundation.

Kilgallioch Community Benefit Company Limited distributes funds to community projects located within or directly benefitting South Carrick and other locations in South West Scotland.

They are funded by ScottishPower Renewables. 

Awards can support a wide range of costs and activities including equipment costs, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional worker costs, consultations, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities.

Girvan Town Team hope their bid will match the criteria. 

Decisions are made by the Kilgallioch Community Trust board, which is made up of twelve local volunteer Directors elected by the company members. 

Up to ten members are nominated by each of the Community Councils of Old Luce, New Luce, Kirkcowan and Barrhill.

Kilgallioch Community Fund aims to fund community-led charitable activities that support the rural regeneration and sustainability of communities.

Between £500 to £10,000 is available as a grant. 

There is a two-stage application process for large grants and an initial one page outline proposal is required. 

The Board will review the proposal and agree whether to invite a full application to future rounds.

Priority will be given to applications that address one or more of the following aims:

Engage and empower young people, increase employment opportunities for young people and/or attract young families to the area

Reduce poverty and disadvantage

Improve connectivity, including transport, access to services and opportunities

Improve quality of life, health and well-being

Build capacity for local groups and promote community spirit

Promote, protect and celebrate natural and cultural heritage
