AS we continue our campaign this week it has re-emerged that a burial ground, of black death victims, is hidden underneath the former BHS.
According to the Book the Pageant of Ayr, in the 1980s, developers found skeletons seven feet underground, believed to be families who were infected by the plague when it spread in Ayr in the 14th century.
Historians believe that archaeologists should be allowed to continue digging deeper as they are certain they will discover further settlements on Ayr’s
Riverside built on top of to create Ayr High Street.
