A MOTHER and a daughter admitted to possessing Class A and Class B drugs.

Sarah Jane Mcilwraith (49) of Russell Drive, Ayr had cannabis resin and Claire Mcilwraith (32) of Victoria Street, Ayr also owned up to having heroin on March 27, 2017 at McCalls Avenue in Ayr.

They both appeared before Sheriff Carole Cunninghame at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Depute Fiscal, Jason Bell, explained: “At 11:30am, police officers attended the address with a search warrant under the drug act.

“Both the accused and co-accused were in the bedroom. A bag containing brown resin was found which tested positive for cannabis, measuring 4.5g, worth £5.

“1.5g of diamorphine [heroin] was also found, valuing at £60.

“Both the accused and co-accused also failed to attend court.”

Both Sarah Jane Mcilwraith and Claire Mcilwraith were ordered to carry out a community payback order with 12 months supervision, as well as paying a fine of £300 each for not appearing at court on a previous occasion.
