A MAN was due to appear in court for allegedly reversing his car into another vehicle at a car park on Ayr’s Fort Street.

It is claimed that at 12pm on Friday, March 23 at the rear car park, for the RBS which sits on the Sandgate, the 46-year-old recklessly reversed his car at speed into an Alfa Romero.

The driver has been charged with driving while unfit to drive through drugs, acting in a threatening or abusive manner while shouting and swearing and behaving aggressively towards police.

The Ayr Advertiser Series understands that the man was in possession of a knife and was driving without a valid driving licence.

It is believed police were made aware of the situation as the driver was observed staggering in the car park and was aggressive towards other people in the car park.

Officers have said that the man then reversed his car and crashed it into the front of another. Police attended and he was arrested while allegedly being in possession of a knife.

The 46-year-old was arrested and detained for court. He was due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court from custody on Monday, March 26.
