COMMUNITY groups and organisations from across Ayr North and the surrounding areas are celebrating after receiving funding for their work.

Some 385-people turned up to take part in the latest event on Saturday, March 3.

And 35 projects, including help for the homeless through Seascape, competition for the Dalmilling Dance Mums, fresh supplies for the Crafty Ladies and new kit to get young people into lawn bowls in Annbank, were awarded funding from a pot of £75,000.

Councillor Douglas Campbell, said: “People turned out in large numbers to back local projects that put something back into their communities and I’m pleased this latest event was so well supported.

“The new Ayr Academy was designed to act as a community hub and with groups from across the area getting together to share their experience.

“I hope that many new projects are now being considered as potential partnerships.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved behind the scenes in organising the event and wish all the successful groups the best of luck for their positive projects.”
