TWO brothers have been charged with forcing their way in a property in Ayr and threatened a young woman with weapons, ransacking her house and making off with her car.

Hugh McHugh (40) and Patrick McHugh (41), from the Glasgow area, were arrested and charged with robbery and forced entry, theft and ‘hamesucken’, an ancient Scots Law term which is defined as ‘the felonious seeking and invasion of a person in their dwelling house.’

They appeared in private at Ayr Sheriff Court last Wednesday.

The pair made no plea and the case has been committed for further examination, with the two men remanded in custody until their next appearance.

The alleged incident took place on Monday, January 22 and involved a 21-year-old woman and a property at Ayr’s Thornyflat Place.

They stand accused of threatening her with violence before taking the car keys and ransacking the house.
