A CHARITY football match, will be held for the coach of the 97s Ayr Boswell Football Club, who has been diagnosed terminal bowel cancer.

John Rowans looked after the club for 14 years. To raise money for The Ayrshire Hospice and The Cancer Unit at Ayr Hospital, his family have decided to arrange the football match.

Speaking on the JustGiving page his daughter Jade Porter, said: “We unexpectedly discovered my dad has terminal bowel cancer.

“Stephen Devlin who my dad coached with has organised this event for all the family and friends to come along, enjoy and show their support.

“As a family we agreed we would love for The Ayrshire Hospice and The Cancer Unit at Ayr Hospital to benefit from this day and receive all money raised.

“We have come across the most kind and helpful nurses and doctors within the Hospice and Cancer Unit and this is our way of thanking them for all the tremendous hard work they do.

“My dad has worked for Arnold Clark Ayr and Kilmarnock in the Toyota Dealerships for 13 years and as a fantastic gesture they are sponsoring the day, matching the total donation up to £1000 and supplying the prizes and lots more behind the scenes to make this event happen.

“We are very grateful for every little donation for this and look forward to seeing everyone there on the day.We invite you all back to the Ally McLeod suite at Somerset park for nibbles, drinks, raffles and a catch up after the event.”

Kick off is at 3pm on Sunday, May 20. So far £792.00 of the £3,000 target has been raised

Tickets for the event cost £4 for adults and kids £1 entry on the day. To donate visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jade-porter3
