THE RNLI Troon Lifeboat Team were called out following reports of two people stranded near the Big Idea building in Irvine after being cut off by the tide.
The team responded immediately with Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team also tasking their lifeboat to Irvine Harbour.
The teams quickly arrived on scene and successfully located the two casualties who were stranded on the northern bank of the river entering Irvine Harbour.
Both casualties were not in any immediate danger.
Troon’s D class inshore lifeboat ‘Telford Shopping Centre’ Lifeboat was launched from the nearby slipway at Irvine Harbour with the team marking the casualties’ location.
Both casualties were successfully recovered and returned to the slipway at Irvine Harbour.
They were suffering from the effects of the cold having been stranded for some time, with the team providing casualty care and placing them in the Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Vehicle to provide warmth and shelter from the winter conditions which were affecting the area.
A short time later, both casualties were conveyed to hospital for a full check-up.
