A MAN has been fined after driving whilst under the influence of a cocktail of drugs.
John Jolly, of High Street, Whithorn, admitted to being unfit to drive whilst at the McDonald’s car park on Whittlets Road on February 2, 2017.
The 42-year-old appeared before Sheriff John Montgomery at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.
Procurator Fiscal, Jason Bell, said: “The accused placed an order. Staff noted that his speech was slow and slurred, like he was under the influence of something.
“The police were contacted – when they arrived they breathalysed the accused and it was negative.
“They took him to Ayr Police Station where they took a sample of his urine and this was analysed. The test revealed a number of drugs, including methadone, diazapam and morphine.”
Jolly’s defence solicitor, Mr Killkerr, explained that he was on prescribed medication to “deal with pain and depression”.
Jolly was given a £250 fine and was banned from driving for a year.
