BIG-HEARTED staff at an Ayr coffee shop donated their tips to help make Christmas Day extra special for local senior citizens.
The team at the Book and Bun in Newmarket Street decided to bank two weeks’ worth of tips from customers and give the money to Christmas Companions – a feast of food and fun on December 25 for older folk who would otherwise be spending the big day alone.
Voluntary Action South Ayrshire’s Marie Oliver, who organises Christmas Companions, picked up a cheque for £118.35.
Marie said: “The girls at the Book and Bun have demonstrated the true spirit of Christmas and I can’t thank them enough.
“It’s generosity like this that has allowed us to put on a great event for elderly folk every Christmas Day for the last 16 years.”
