STORM Conor caused chaos on Boxing Day, 2016, as slates from Hollow Park Vet’s Surgery on Maybole Road were blown from the roof.
At around 7.30am on Monday, December 26 tiles landed in front of Iceland, forcing the store to close for the day despite plans to open from 10am until 5pm.
An Iceland worker said it was lucky that no-one had been hurt or killed. But the storm didn’t deter ‘Turkey Trotters’.
More than 500 runners braved Storm Conor on Boxing Day to take part in Ayr’s annual ‘Turkey Trot’.

A NEW exhibition containing the complete collection of Alexander Goudie’s Tam O’ Shanter paintings opened in Alloway’s Rozelle House. Tam O’ Shanter – A Tale Told in Pictures was officially unveiled to the public on Sunday, and contains a staggering 54 paintings in total.

ASSEL Valley Windfarm in Girvan secured £42.3 million in funding after discussing the possibility of selling shares to the community. At the end of 2016 Falck Renewables stated they had secured a loan agreement which is expected to last for 18 years

BURNS enthusiasts joined together to celebrate Scotland’s most famous Bard as well as this year’s Humanitarian Award finalists.
Queen Margaret Academy’s Sean Morrison, who is a member of the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra was joined by councillor Bill Grant and his ‘tartan army’ to sing Auld Lang Syne at the Brig O’ Doon which was broadcast on Good Morning Britain.
Sean also played a beautiful  rendition of ‘My love is like a red red rose’ on the violin.
