A MAN has admitted to causing severe injury to another man on a night out.

Scott Morrison, of Moor Park, Prestwick, assaulted a man by punching him on the face, causing him to fall to the ground on Prestwick’s Main Street on September 9, this year.

The 24-year-old appeared before Sheriff Mhari MacTaggart at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Depute Fiscal, Jason Bell, explained: “At 2:35am, police witnesses were on patrol on Prestwick’s Main Street when they were approached by a member of the public about a disturbance.

“The police made their way to a bus stop. The accused was seen throwing a single punch causing the complainer to fall to the ground.

"When the police approached the accused, he put his hands up in the air and he was handcuffed.

“The complainer was lying on the ground with blood to his face, saying he was feeling dizzy – he was taken to Ayr Hospital’s A&E – he received five stitches above his left eye.

“The accused was taken to Ayr police office where he was cautioned and charged.”

Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor Miss Kane explained that Morrison was “simply on a night out” and the complainer was not known to him.

Sheriff MacTaggart deferred sentence for reports.
