AN Ayrshire primary school has won MSP Jeane Freeman’s official Christmas card design.

The winning Primary Seven class from St Xavier’s Primary School designed a drawing of a snowman, with Dalrymple Primary School coming second with a painting of a hedgehog and a Christmas pudding.

A selection of designs were also create by schools from Patna and Dalmellington.

Ms Freeman went along to congratulate the winners and a selection of the designs which were close contenders will be displayed in her constituency office in Cumnock throughout December.

Ayr Advertiser:

The competition was run in conjunction with Cann Print who generously donated the cost of production of the card and Waterstones in Ayr who provided the vouchers for the winning primary classes.

After visiting both St Xavier’s and Dalrymple, Ms Freeman said: “I was so impressed by the many excellent drawings and designs we received.
“We have some very talented young people in this constituency and it was very hard indeed to choose the winners.

“I think I have a lovely Christmas card this year and in the coming years as we involve more local schools I’m looking forward to sending out more lovely cards across Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley.

“I owe many thanks to all the young people who took part and the staff at St Xavier’s, Patna, Dalmellington and Dalrymple Primary Schools for organising the competition and the great work they do.

“My thanks also to both Cann Print and Waterstones in Ayr for their support.”
