A MAN has been fined after punching a door steward in the face.
Robert Smith, of Russell Drive Ayr, admitted assaulting the steward at Club De Mar on August 27 of this year. The 39-year-old appeared before Sheriff Mhari MacTaggart at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.
Depute Fiscal, Jason Bell, explained: “At 1:50am, the complainer was made aware of a male causing difficulty with other customers. The complainer approached the accused, who was complacent about being removed.
"But as they made their way to the entrance of the night club, the accused struck the complainer, causing his nose to bleed. The police were contacted.”
The court was told by Smith’s solicitor, Neil McPherson, that the accused had been consuming a lot of alcohol.
He added: “Mr Smith did not recall going into the night club - he is very apologetic and said that he’s not a man prone to violence.”
Sheriff MacTaggart issued Smith a £450 fine.
